At Kreher’s Farm Fresh Eggs, we pride ourselves on our Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs in order to provide you with the highest quality and freshest eggs. We strive for excellence at every opportunity, and seek to exceed the standard food safety practices and guidelines for our industry.
Our comprehensive Egg Quality Assurance Program focuses on:
FDA Egg Safety Final Rule. Kreher’s was an early adopter of food safety precautions and procedures. About 20 years before the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued its Egg Safety Final Rule in 2010, we began adopting the practices specified in the rule and we go beyond the standards to include:
- Environmental testing beyond those required
- Vaccination of our birds for salmonella enteritidis (SE)
- An extensive rodent elimination program
- Poultry house washing and disinfecting
A Comprehensive Bio-security plan to ensure safety of our birds, employees and eggs.
A full Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) Program in place and monitored
A USDA Grader / Inspector; Egg farms are not required by the United States Department of Agriculture to have a grader on site during processing. Although completely voluntary, we believe having a resident USDA grader is integral to the quality assurance process. The USDA grader provides oversight of our process to inspect our eggs for interior and exterior quality and ultimately verifies the grade as AA, A, or B. (Grade AA is highest in quality).
Safe, sanitary processes. Kreher’s eggs are quickly gathered, washed, sanitized, packaged, and refrigerated. They are then shipped in refrigerated trucks, at a temperature at 45° F or colder, to maintain freshness.
Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 3 Certified. The SQF Program is a leading, Global Food Safety and Quality certification and management system. Safe Quality Foods, a division of the Food Marketing Institute, conducts a third party independent audit each year to assure that our eggs are produced in a HACCP based food safety and quality system. SQF Level 3 (the highest level) has been awarded to both processing operations since 2009.Learn More About the Safe Quality Food Program
